Leopold arrived in America on sept. 28. 1865 at he age of 27. He departed from Le Havre by the vessel "MERCURY" (captains name: Thomas P. Stetson) travelling - like most emigrants- in "steerage".
As occupation he indicated "farmer"

Leopold married Katharina Ziegler, daughter of Andreas Ziegler and Maria Eva Kreiss, on 5 Jul 1860 in Aglasterhausen, Mosbach, Baden. (Katharina Ziegler was born on 28 May 1840 in Neidenstein, Heidelberg.)
